Conference at Norman High THIS FRIDAY

Conference is THIS FRIDAY at Norman High School. Athletes need to provide their own transportation to and from this meet. Please have them there at 8:30 with uniform, sweats, running shoes, spikes, food and drinks. The weather isn't looking too good so make sure and dress appropriately to stay warm and dry! Weather Channel is reporting only a high of 60* with a 60% chance of rain. We are looking for parents to help supervise the team at our "camp" and make sure they get to their check in and events on time. If you are interested in helping, please let Coach Hogan or Coach Balkman know. Also, if you are willing to send snacks or drinks for the kids please let us know. Thank you to those parents who have provided snacks and drinks at previous meets!!

CONFERENCE and TRACK PARTY

Conference is creeping up quickly! With today's freezing cold weather and no practice, we have a lot of work to do Wednesday and Thursday to be ready for Conference at Norman High on Friday. Please be there and ready to work! As soon as I get info on Conference, I'll update and get it to you.

Our annual TRACK PARTY is scheduled for this Saturday at 6:00pm at Coach Balkman's house (3403 36th Ave NE). Come prepared to get wet in our annual water fight!! Bring buckets, water guns, water balloons, etc. Don't forget your towel! Also please bring chips, side dish or dessert to share. We will roast hot dogs and celebrate a great season! YUKON

The weather is looking beautiful for tomorrow's meet at Yukon! Sunny with a high around 70. The Chisholm Trail Invite is held at Yukon Middle School off Garth Brooks Blvd in Yukon. Make sure you wear your uniform, track t-shirt and sweats or warm clothes. Also don't forget to bring your running shoes, spikes, sunscreen, plenty to eat and drink. Due to transportation issues, we are leaving at two different times on two busses.  The people that  need to be at school at 7:00am are: Maggie, Chavon, Lindsey, Sydney, Angel, Kris, Kassandra, Alexis, Jackson B, Jacob, Fernando, Jason, Montrell, Logan, Devon, Garrison, Joaquinn, Tristin, Christian, Cailey, Rachel, Chasity, Patrice, Olivia, Katelyn, Devin, Lisa, Kaela, Jolie, Dorothy, Kelsey, Nathan, Michael, Skylar, Wyatt, Blake, Colten, JR, Canyon, Rollow, Chip, Rico, Elliot, Hunter. Unfortunately we are not able to take everyone to this meet. The list of events was announced at practice today but if you have any questions regarding who is going, please call Coach Balkman. Those not competing will be staying at school tomorrow and competing at Plainview in Ardmore next Saturday.

The meet organizer has said that last year they had 35 teams and finished at 6:00, we are hoping this year runs just as smoothly. However, we will leave the meet at 7:00pm regardless of where we are on the schedule. That will get us home by 8:00 at the latest.

Jarman Meet Cancelled Friday, GOING TO YUKON

The Jarman meet on Friday has been cancelled due to unexpected construction at their track facility. Due to this, we have changed our plans and will be competing at the Chisholm Trail Invite in Yukon on Friday. THERE WILL BE 2 BUSSES THAT LEAVE LMS AT 2 DIFFERENT TIMES FRIDAY MORNING. We will send out a personalized schedule to each athlete this week so they know if they are on the early bus or late bus. If you have any questions, please email or call. Track is cancelled today! Please take this time to jog a little, stretch and rest up for tomorrow's meet at Norman High School.

Tomorrow, be at Norman High School by 9:00am. NHS is located on Main Street between Flood and Berry. Tomorrow's weather looks nice with a high of 76 and only 20% chance of rain. Cookie Dough Fundraiser Here TODAY

Cookie dough from the Track Fundraiser will be delivered to practice today at 5:00. If you have orders to pick up and your athlete is not at practice today, please make arrangements for someone to come and pick it up. Thanks to all who participated! If you were not able to participate but would still like to support the LMS Track Team, you may make a cash/check donation and give it to Coach Hogan or Coach Balkman. All funds raised will go to help pay entry fees to our meets this season, as well as provide team t-shirts to those who are not able to purchase one.

Bethany and Norman Meets

Welcome back Lions! Hope you had a great Spring Break! Below you will find information for our upcoming meets this week. Thursday March 28th busses will leave the school at 12:30 for the Bethany meet. Spring Break Practice

Don't lose what you've worked so hard to build so far this season! Spring Break practices are not required, but we strongly encourage everyone to attend if you are in town. Please workout at least five times during the break. No matter where you are, you can workout!

Practices will be held at NNHS Monday, Wednesday & Friday
5:00-6:30pm

If you can't attend, here are some ideas you can do at home everyday!
--Jogging outside or on a treadmill
--Find a good hill and run it a few times (Hallbrooke has a good one!)
--Warm up drills (high knees, butt kicks, bounds, etc)
--Intervals of sprinting for 1 minute, jogging for 2 minutes (5-10 reps)
--Core workout (sit-ups, V-ups, plank, side plank, floppy fish, leg raises, etc)
--Form strides and buildups
--Cross training--play soccer, basketball or football. Ride a bike or go swimming.
--ANYTHING TO STAY ACTIVE DURING THE BREAK

All City Preview

All City Preview at Norman High School today beginning at 5:00. Kids will ride the track bus over to the school. We will be running a limited meet including 3200m, 1600m, 800m, 400m, 200m, 100m, 4x400 Relay, Shot Put and Discus. This is a practice meet to show the kids how a track meet works, and also give them an opportunity to participate in whatever event they woule like to. Unlike other meets where there is a limit of 3 athletes per division per school, and 4 events per athlete, this meet has no limitations. Athletes are encouraged to try and participate in whatever events interest them!! Although the number of events has changed in this meet, some things remain the same and we really have no idea when it will end! Because we are timing our own runners and with limited events I suspect it will move fairly quickly. My guess is we'll be done between 7:00-8:00. If you aren't coming to watch, keep your phone close by and your  kids will call when it's coming to an end. Remember, it could end before 7:00 or after 8:00 but my guess is somewhere in the middle.

Norman High School is located on Main Street between Berry and Flood.

2013 Season

The sun is shining, temps are rising and spring is in the air...this week.
This must mean that TRACK SEASON is fast approaching!!!

1st practice is Tuesday, February 19th after school in the LMS Gym.
Parent meeting Thursday, February 21st at 5:30 in the LMS Auditorium.
